Manual Therapy

manual-ther Manual therapy, also known as orthopedic manual therapy, is a clinical approach used by Masters in physical therapy that incorporates skilled hands-on techniques to evaluate and treat spinal and extremity joints, muscles, tendons, and ligaments. During the first visit, a patient’s history is thoroughly reviewed and a comprehensive physical exam is completed.

At Fysio Huis we are dedicated to providing you with the most effective manual therapy techniques available. We are committed to provide the kind of one-on-one care that gets you back on track fast. Our main focus is on tailor-made care that centers on gentle, hands-on techniques and individualized exercise programs delivered by highly certified and trained manual therapists.

The key principles are based on all parts of the body functioning together in an integrated manner.
If one part of the body is restricted, then the rest of the body must adapt and compensate for this, eventually leading to inflammation, pain, stiffness and other health conditions.

By evaluating and treating dysfunction within the musculoskeletal, myofascial and nervous systems, we can often alleviate pain and ailments in patients who otherwise couldn’t be helped by conventional physical therapy.

Our aim is to decrease pain and increase function. Joint mobilization/manipulation involves moving joints in specific directions and speeds to regain movements of the affected area of the body. Selected neural tension mobilization, soft tissue, myofascial release or dry needling may also be used to improve the mobility and function of tissues and muscles.

Manual therapy has many benefits, here are the most common ones:

-Relieve chronic pain, and physical dysfunction

-Increase range of motion

-Decrease muscle spasm

-Improve blood circulation

-Facilitate movement

Furthermore, one of the main advantages of manual therapy is that benefits can be sometimes achieved almost immediately. By applying appropriate manual techniques, one can expect to achieve an almost immediate increase in movement and decrease in pain.
These treatments can make active exercise, stretching and core strengthening much more comfortable and effective.
